Odd crime story-
While walking my dog, I came across some discarded documents. Being an eco-freak, I was considering picking them up and throwing them in the trash (our city, unfortunately, doesn't have a recycling program, and the nearest recycling plant isn't all that close).
Upon closer investigation, it turned out the documents belonged to someone, and were very vital to functioning, and very personal.
Bank statements, mortgage payments, a boat license certificate, insurance statements, a birth certificate, and a ton more where that came from.
Being a good samaritan, I was going to contact him to help him recover these documents, but something didn't seem right...
Why would someone who lost all of those important documents (especially an out-of-state birth certificate) not stop and pick them up?
That being the case, I came to the conclusion they were intentionally discarded.
Also being paranoid, I went on a hunch and ran a search on Arrest Warrants (criminalsearches.com), input the man's name, state, and pushed enter...
And it yielded the city on the older bank statements, and the age based off the bank certificate.
I wrote an email to the local police, since he threw everything away and hit the road, so it's probably not a major emergency, and I have some of the more important ones if they need them, if the ones on the road decompose. That's not really the issue.
It's kind of strange to know there are/were people running from the law in my city, especially considering how rural we are.
[Edit]
Speaking of rural-

Thank you for a well-run police department.
Guess I'll have to try and explain all of this in a call tomorrow.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed the story. I thought it was mildly interesting what one can come across when you're a busybody. (Sure, I wanted to throw them away for being litter... But that didn't mean reading them >_>)
